Dear Colleagues,

Part of my responsibilities as the architect for the Cement and Concrete Institute would be to avail my services to you as an Architectural Consultant, and to keep you informed on matters relating to the use of architectural concrete.

New application possibilities; related product developments and the creative use of concrete and cement are evident in contemporary projects locally and worldwide, and continue to extend the versatility, durability and adaptability of concrete as a building material. Part of my services to you would be to supply you with information to allow cost effective possibilities; and other more expressive or multiple applications which you may want to put to use in your projects.

As an Architect I am aware of the unique challenges our profession and the building industry are currently facing in South Africa, over and above the constraints of materials shortages; electricity supply, building costs and high interest rates as well as the dire lack of skills. The challenge is to remain committed to providing value-added projects to Clients and adding a positive contribution to the environment. With the imminent introduction of the new SA Green Star Building Codes, buildings will become subjected to sustainability ratings, additionally highlighting the need to base informed decisions on the benefits of sustainable materials such concrete.

Lastly, may I remind you of the continuous commitment of the Cement and Concrete Institute to the profession by offering you free technical advice; an interactive website with information downloads; access to our extensive library collection and databases; publications and our other information resources.
