This section
of the
C & CI website is aimed specifically at the architectural
profession. Use this section to:
-
explore the joy of concrete buildings around the world
- obtain
advice on the use and finishes of architectural concrete
- communicate with us regarding
assistance we can offer in concrete construction
Ideally we
would
like to promote South African concrete architecture, but obviously
there is some great work around the world, please use our site
regularly as a conduit for universal architectural stimulation.

Not everyone gets a
chance to read our magazine "Concrete Trends". Following our huge
success with Architectural designs featured in this magazine, it was
decided to showcase the following articles.

Eglise Saint-Nicolas
Roman Catholic
Hérémence, Canton Valais
Switzerland
In 1961 it was
decided that the church from 1770, weakened over time and
by an earthquake in 1946, would have to be replaced. After the old
church was
demolished in 1967, construction began in 1968 for a new church, built
entirely
of concrete. It was dedicated in 1971 and its unusual architecture
attracts
many visitors.

The Cement and Concrete Institute runs
courses on concrete technology. We also have courses ideally suited for
architects, and we have CPD accredited presentations, specifically for
architects, which can be presented anywhere in the country. For more
information on any of these, please contact Daniel van der Merwe.

Our quarterly magazine, Concrete Trends, contains several
articles of interest to architects, so please let us know if you would
like to receive a copy.
Additionally, we’d like to emerge from cyberspace and meet through
Seminars and lectures.
Please have a look at our database and check your details. If you are
happy to receive occasional information, please would you update your
details with Daniel van der Merwe on daniel.vandermerwe@cnci.org.za
We are mindful of your privacy and will only communicate if we think it
is constructive.
