A Guide to the Common Properties of Concrete
This 46-page booklet is aimed at construction industry professionals to assist structural designers to specify essential properties of concrete that may affect the performance of a structure. Problems related to in situ concrete usually stems from aspects such as non-specification, incorrect specification, or poor workmanship or materials selection. The persons best suited at tender stage to identify the properties of concrete required for the proper performance of a structure are the designers who will find the new book of tremendous value.

It will also assist the contractor with the interpretations of specifications, the testing of concrete and acceptance or rejection of results. The publication also briefly deals with the common properties of concrete observed in the field to result in concrete distress or failure.

Free copies of the booklet are available to building industry professionals. Contact Harry Mabaso for further information.

Concrete Road Construction
This manual is intended to assist those involved in the construction of concrete roads whether this is using the most modern slip-form paver or the most rudimentary equipment for a low-volume township street.  However, more information on low-volume concrete roads is contained in the C&CI’s publication Low-volume concrete roads.
The manual covers some design and detailing aspects but only so that there is an understanding of why certain details are important and why they should be constructed in a certain way.
It is hoped that this manual will be of value to all those involved with the construction of concrete roads in any form.  Click here to order.

BEE Rating
The C&CI has been verified as a Level 4 Contributor to BBBEE on the Qualifying Small Enterprise Scorecard. In terms of this grading, the BEE procurement recognition level is 100%.  Click here to view the certificate.
